Training
Not everyone walks in for the same reason, and that is the right place to start. One person wants the discipline of showing up and doing the work when no one is keeping score. Another wants to know how to protect themselves and the people they love. Someone else comes for fitness, or for confidence, or because life has started to feel louder than they are.
Martial arts can hold all of those aims at once. It is a practice of attention: how you stand, how you move, and how you meet a hard moment without losing yourself. The art does not ask every student to want the same thing. It asks each student to become more capable, in the body and in the choices they make after class.
American Freestyle pulls the strongest tools from several arts and trains a method that adapts to you. If a style does not fit a body, we do not force the body to fit the style.
United Martial Arts runs four kinds of programs.
Martial Arts with roots in American Freestyle. Designed to build confidence, discipline, fitness, and the ability to protect yourself, using what works from several arts disciplines and fitting it to the abilities of the student.
Fitness Kickboxing is bag work taught by kickboxers. It builds strength, conditioning, and cardio — about 800 calories an hour — with real stances, hands, kicks, and knees. There is no choreography and no sparring required.
Practical Tactical Protection is a different program. It teaches bodyguard basics and a protection mindset for ordinary days:
The work covers carjacking, home invasion, travel, and public outings, especially for families and anyone at higher risk. It is an active class. It is not a martial arts class, and it is not a fitness class.
SP³ARC is a one-day women's only self-defense camp. It is not a sport class and not a traditional style. It trains awareness, posture, and a response a student can use when she cannot walk away.
Unfortunately, one in three women will face physical or sexual violence in her lifetime, most often in an ordinary place and often from someone she knows. The camp is built so she does not have to meet that day unprepared.
